A life long lover of
westerns, Joan was immediately smitten when she first saw Lancer in
daily reruns back in the summer of 1973. With its depth of character and
extraordinary family dynamics, it contained the perfect mix to capture a
teenager's imagination, especially in the character of Johnny Madrid
Lancer. Blurring the lines between black and white, the show was ahead
of its time. With her two
oversized, cantankerous cats ruling the home front, Joan enjoys spending
her down time online. Finding Lancer groups on the web in 2003 opened a
whole new dimension for this long remembered and much loved show. This
led to the adventure of attending the first Lancer convention in 2004.
Joan is grateful for the opportunity to have met so many fellow Lancer
fans, and for the chance to meet the incomparable James Stacy, and she
hopes that in future she will be able to attend another convention.
Although she has now
made submissions for two Lancer zines, Joan still considers herself to
be a novice, and she feels quite nervous about presenting her stories
– but it is an exhilarating experience to share with other Lancer
lovers.
